Other Ways to Organize?

There are so many other ways to organize your computers, including your emails, RSS feeds, favorite websites, and blog posts!  I love to create folders to store different things by category.  It is the easiest and more sufficient way for me to organize!  I have folders for everything, including my emails.  It's definitely the best way to organize, by far!

Twitter and Instagram in Education

Twitter and Instagram can be used in multiple ways to help improve education.  Teachers can communicate with students, assign projects and discuss topics along with the students. Students would really enjoy using this as a new way of learning because it's something that they are all fairly familiar with.  I think this would be beneficial to include throughout our school.

RSS Feeds

  1. Why did you select the sites you subscribed to?
I selected the sites that I subscribed to because I have an interest in them.  I enjoy reading different recipes and trying new dishes to make, so I subscribed to Simply Recipes.  Also, I enjoy reading about celebrity style and the different fashion trends going on, so I subscribed to Teen Vogue.

Was it easy to find feeds and to subscribe to them?
For some websites, the feeds were very clear and I could find them easily.  However, it was difficult to find the feeds for some of the government websites.

Which sites were your favorites?
My favorite sites that I subscribed to are Teen Vogue and ABC News.  It's good to keep up with what's going on in the world at the same time as keeping up with the different fashion trends.

What else can you use RSS feeds for?
RSS feeds can also be used for bookmarking articles.  You can save whichever ones interest you and always go back to them.

How likely are you to continue to use RSS feeds in the future?
It is likely that I will continue to use RSS feeds. They have become easy to work with and
have proven to be a great and useful tool.

Change in the World

There's always more good to give to the world, and there are always improvements that need to be made.  By seeing things that need to be changed positively in the community, I am given the drive and will to help.  My life goals are simple.  I want to help contribute to my community as much as I possibly can because I would rather work hard in this generation in order to see a brighter future for the next generation.  People's actions alone are major contributing factors to the world being a better place.  Positive attitudes, actions, and people will be why the future of the world looks so bright.

Typhoon in the Philippines

The Philippines was hit by a devastating typhoon that left many people with major injuries or homeless.  They have estimated that at least 10,000 people lost their lives in the heavy storm and most bodies may never be found.  Those who have survived are very lucky, however food supply is running very scarce as well as medical aid, as it is very hard for treatment to reach some people. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this widespread loss, and so I encourage everyone to do what they can to help. Donate money to open charities for the cause, donate clothes to a clothing drive, and try to help as much as you can.

Wiki In the Classroom

Wikis in the classroom can be very useful and may even be important in some classes.  In my English class, we have groups that we need to get together with at least once a week.  Mr. Forman also gives our groups plenty of assignments.  We can use a wiki in order to keep each other updated on the assignments for the class.  The benefits of using a wiki include better organization and improvement on communication.  We can use wikis in this class in order to keep up with all of our work.  Students in the class can be involved, ask questions, answer questions, and stay posted on Mr. Porfido's assignments.  I have no experience with wikis, however I can't wait to start using them.

My Day of Invisibility

If I were given the opportunity to be invisible for a day, I would chose to do as many good deeds as possible to become the new unrecognizable hero.  The entire day, I would devote myself into doing kind things for others.  I think that it would be cool to stand at the door of a very busy building in New York and open the door for everyone.  It would completely freak them out!  Another good thing I could do would be to leave positive notes all around the neighborhood.  Also, if someone disabled or elderly is leaving the grocery store, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if there bags started floating in the air as I carried them to their car!  Someone could be struggling to get a baby carriage down the stairs, and it would be thought-provoking to see the carriage all of a sudden being lifted into the air and floated down the stairs.
Just because I'm invisible and can accomplish many good deeds, all of these things can be done when someone is being seen. Anyone can be a super hero, because anyone can accomplish good deeds.

New High School Class

As a teacher, I would love to add a Marine Biology course to a high school's curriculum.  I think that this would be a very interesting and diverse class to add to the list of many science classes that are offered.  Marine Biology is the study of underwater sea life and the way they adapt and live in their natural habitats.  This is not a very common course, however it includes a very large amount of information.
The Marine Biology course could take place at any point in the daytime, however early morning is probably the best.  I believe in both the classroom setting way of learning and the hands on way of learning, so I feel as though both learning about the animals in a classroom to start and then being hands on in experiencing the animals in their way of life would be most beneficial to the students.  From learning all that they will from the course, students gain the knowledge of underwater sea life and getting a taste of the Marine Biology world, if any student was considering a marine biologist as a profession.  I believe that this course would be fun, interactive, and successful for all students who wish to participate!

Physics

This year, I'll be taking physics honors as my science course.  My teacher's name is Mr. Hassinger.  (Check out his website here!) He's a new teacher to Wood-Ridge Jr./Sr. High School and will be teaching my Physics Honors class, Physics classes, and 8th grade G&T Science.  This year, we will be doing plenty of experiments and labs with gravity, sound waves, kinematics, and other physics-related topics.  Also, field trips to a pool hall and Six Fags are undergo which I'm very excited about!
Most of my homework is online, so I will be using my computer at home every night to complete it.  If I can't be home one night to do my homework, I can also use my phone to get my homework problems on the go! I have also been using my computer to help me look up some of the information I need to complete my homework.  If I don't know an equation, I can look it up and have it in a matter of seconds!
I'm very excited to be able to expand my knowledge in the science world and I'm excited for learning more about the way physics pertains to everyday life.  Although Physics is not my best subject, Mr. Hassinger has been making his class enjoyable and a lot of fun!

CHECK OUT THIS AWESOME PHYSICS EXPERIMENT!

    9/11

September 11th, 2001 was the day that tragedy struck our entire nation.  The surprise attack on New York's twin towers has caused the United States to be forever changed.  So many innocent people lost their lives that day and unfortunately, families across the United States must face devastation for the rest of their lives.  Remembering this day and those who passed away is so important as an American.  I pray for those who are mourning over their loved ones as everyone in America remembers this day.
